Wilco’s role on this project for Aecon and Alberta Transportation includes 250,000 m3 of common excavation and truck haul to offsite; constructing a new storm pond adjacent to Nose Creek, and cutting and removing the existing median on Deerfoot to allow new lanes of traffic to be completed.

The project will increase capacity and traffic flow by connecting 11th St NE to northbound Deerfoot, and adds a fourth continuous lane on Deerfoot in both directions. The new pond will be complete with a clay liner, and will settle out storm runoff prior to discharging to the creek. This is one of many Deerfoot improvement projects kicking off in 2023 and to be completed over the next few years, upgrading the traffic capacity along the entire corridor.

Wilco’s versatility is again beneficial on this site, completing all excavation and grading, as well as drainage utilities and landscape items in-house.
